Scene from a Garden: Plumbago in a Pot

I'm a sucker for plumbago...maybe because it's such a sweet shade of blue and fairly heat tolerant. I feel the same about agapanthus...but that's a story for another day.

Alas, because here in the Hill Country we get a fair amount of cold winter evening, my plumbago doesn't always make it through 'til Spring. So, as with most of our annuals, I like to use pots for my plumbago and reserve the small amount of bed space we've carved out of the caliche for hardier perennials--rosemary, sage, salvia, agave, etcetera.

This week I replaced an old salvia plant that had died back to the soil and showed no signs of recovery with this lovely plumbago. It's stunning on my front porch, especially with that vibrantly hued pot. Enjoy!
