Terrific video from Send A Cow, a U.K. group that provides training to impoverished African farmers. It's similar to Heifer International, but focused on a narrower geographic area.
The keyhole garden idea seems like a real winner. Having just watched a marvelous PBS special on how many 19th century German settlers to this area died because they couldn't get crops to grow, I think there may be some application in Central Texas for this kind of garden. For one thing, there's more than enough rocks to go 'round.
That said, I'll wait until Tater Tot is older before experimenting with the concept--it'd be tempting to climb or deconstruct it!
